Ramblings of a
so-called Street Photographer
Ramblings of a so-called Street Photographer
"Much of my photography, predominantly street portraiture, takes place in and around the historic Spitalfields area of London’s East End. The often random approach to my work has resulted in some award-winning images.
My entry for the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize 2016 was used on the catalogue cover for the National Portrait Gallery 2016 exhibition and for an extensive poster campaign. Further images resulted in ‘winner’ status in BJP’s Portrait of Britainin 2018 and Portrait of Humanity in 2019.
This is not a how-to presentation about photographing strangers, more about the stories behind the images and sometimes life-enhancing encounters. That said, I am more than happy to share my approach to street portraiture and answer any questions.
I also share my belief that there is much to be gained by developing a deep knowledge of the geography, history and people of a chosen location".
